Property Management for Seasonal Residents

Anyone with a vacation home knows that is can sometimes be difficult dealing with routine maintenance and ensuring that their investment remains safe. The Shattow Group's HomeWatch service can help you maintain your home as well as your peace of mind. With regularly scheduled visits, we are there to inspect your home inside and out, 'exercise' your faucets and toilets to keep them in working order, take in packages and newspapers, and much more.

Our 10 point HomeWatch service includes the following:

Exterior

  1. Complete Perimeter Check
    We walk around your home and look at the roof, gutters, walls, windows, and screens for any sign of damage, tampering, or vandalism. We check all the outside faucets and hoses for leaks.

  2. Equipment Check
    We check in on your your A/C and pool pump to see if there are making any unusual noises.

  3. Grounds Check
    We inspect your landscaping to make sure that it is being kept up and that it is safely cut back from your home to prevent damage.

  4. Packages and Debris
    We take in any packages that have been left and notify you. We dispose of newspapers and move yard debris out of sight for your gardners to remove.

Interior

  1. Leak Check
    We inspect your doors, windows, ceilings, walls, kitchen and bathrooms for signs of water leaks and infiltration.

  2. Plumbing Check
    We turn your water on before we enter your home and 'exercise' your faucets and toilets to help keep them operating properly. We then turn your water off at the main before we leave.

  3. Check A/C
    We check your thermostat to ensure that it is set properly and also check your drip pan to ensure that it is draining properly.

  4. Refrigerators and Freezers
    We check your refrigerators and freezers to make sure they are operating properly.

  5. Lighting Timers
    We make sure your timers are set properly and lamps are going on and off as they should.

  6. Electrical Panel
    We look inside your electrical panel to look for signs of tripped breakers.

To further help you enjoy and maintain your home, we also have these additional services available to our regular HomeWatch clients:

Service Providers
We can arrange for and / or meet with service providers for scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Emergency Services
You can designate The Shattow Group as your local contact for your alarm company. We will respond to alarm notifications as quickly as possible. Upon arrival, we will inspect the property, rearm the alarm system, and notify you of any signs of intrusion or damage via phone or email.

Pre Storm Inspection
The Shattow Group notifies all our clients of impending storm conditions and will, at your request, visit your home to ensure that all furniture is secure and storm shutters, if they have been installed, are in place and secure.  

Post Storm Inspection
After a storm, we will will conduct our regular inspection visit, paying close attention to the exterior and roof areas (visible from the ground), as well as ceilings and around doors and windows.

Opening Services
At your request, we can get your home ready for your visit by contacting your cleaning service, opening blinds, uncover furniture, moving patio and lawn furniture into place, adjusting the A/C, and turning on the water. $45   We can also do some basic shopping so you can feel at home when you walk in the door.

Closing Services
Don't have time to clean things up before you leave?  We can come in and empty your refrigerator, close your blinds, make sure your A/C is turned down, your ice maker is off, and your water is turned off. We can also unplug appliances, bring in your trash and recycling containers, and make sure all doors and windows are secure.
